Recommended Torque Specs

What's torque, you ask? In firearm installations, it's advisable to follow the torque values provided by the manufacturers – that is, how tight the screws should be fastened. So, get yourself a torque wrench with a range of about 0-70 in-lbs / 0-8 Nm! Tighten the DOT mounting clamp screw to 45 in-lbs / 5.1 Nm.

Note:Your red dot sight attaches to the DOT with screws provided with the mount, according to the torque specs of your sight – so check the specs from your sight's manual or the manufacturer. Typically, the torque is around 12 in-lbs / 1.4 Nm (Aimpoint Micro), so the force needed is quite minimal. If you overdo it, you might damage something and have a bad time.

Installation Instructions

Here's an installation video. Below are also step-by-step written instructions. For installation, it’s also good to have some sort of aid to keep the rifle in place, such as a bench vise and for AR rifles, a device like theMagpul BEV Block.

Tools Required

  • The included screws and 2mm hex key
  • T25 Torx tool or a large flathead screwdriver (we recommend a Torx tool)
  • Recommended: Torque wrench for small torques (e.g., 0-70 in-lbs / 0-8 Nm)

Installing Red Dot Sight on DOT Mount

  • You'll need the included screws and hex key for this step
  • You can also use your own 2mm hex bit with a torque wrench
  • Mount the sight correctly onto the DOT to the manufacturer's specified torque
  • Perform this step somewhere other than above a drain, a full trash can, or similar (we have been there)

DOT Mount Installation

  • You'll need the T25 Torx tool and torque wrench for this step
  • Place the mount in a preferred position on the Picatinny rail
  • Press the mount downward and forward, then lightly tighten the clamp screw
  • Finally, torque the clamp screw to 45 in-lbs / 5.1 Nm
