Double the fun in one package. A Finnish puukko knife for more detailed work and a big leuku knife for chopping bigger stuff. The perfect combo when you want to travel light and cannot bring along an axe.
Double leuku isn’t really a double leuku since it has one leuku paired with a small puukko. In any case, it is nevertheless a very practical contraption. No wonder, Finns have been making double knives of all sorts for quite a while.
Both knives have carbon steel blades with a brass bolster, made at Laurin Metalli in Finland. Carbon steel is easier to sharpen than stainless steel but requires a bit more maintenance. Puukko and leuku knives should be sharpened regularly, because dull blades cause the most accidents. When you get the knife, it is sharp enough to shave body hair. By oiling the blades regularly, you keep the rust away.
The handles are made of beautiful curly birch with decorative wenge pieces and brass bolsters. Both the puukko and leuku feel really natural in the hand. It comes with a beautiful vegetable-tanned sheath with a belt loop.
If you don’t like to carry both a knife and an axe but want to get both smaller and bigger tasks done reasonably well, the solution is to bring along a small knife and a heavy long-bladed knife, such as our Skrama or a leuku from Lapland. In case you don’t like to dangle two separate knives on your belt, maybe this kind of combo would be your thing.
With a leuku, you can cut branches, chop small firewood, and eliminate bigger zombies. With a puukko, you can whittle kindling, make sausage sticks and shelter frames, and other precision work. Leuku isn’t of course as efficient as an axe. So, when you need to get rid of bigger obstacles or build log cabins, you better bring along an axe. However, if the weight or space is an issue, here’s a good solution to that.
