The crossing is made with a height-adjustable metal buckle to keep these things on your shoulders without constricting movement. The clips are sturdy and reliable, and nickel-free.

The suspenders are treated with Flamegard PEC agent. It doesn't dissolve into water and retains its properties after repeated washes, up to 50 times in a household machine. Suspenders aren't washed on a weekly basis so it's safe to say these will work for a long time.

Which back type is superior? Some people claim to have an answer; we think it's a preference thing. Do note some things, though: Y-model suspenders are more straightforward and forgiving. If your pants have a belt loop smack in the center back, you'll have to compromise the perfect suspender clip symmetry. H- and X-model suspenders are attached with four clips so they offer better support overall.
