Undying hatred for backpack shoulder straps combined with your plate carrier? Do you need to carry a daypack anyway – but want to be able to detach it without taking off the plate carrier? Here’s your solution: four simple parts that make it work!
- Straps are adjustable, max length 20" / 50 cm
- Each strap includes a One-Wrap strip for tidying up excess
- Total weight of set: 6 oz. / 170 g
How Does This Work?
This product includes four straps with buckles that allow you to attach almost any backpack to a plate carrier. The straps can be connected to the pack or back panel using Siamese buckles or by threading the strap through the backpack's D-ring and its own loop (similar to the shoulder straps on our CP10/15 combat packs).
For the plate carrier, attach the QASM buckles to the shoulders or at the base of the shoulder straps. These can be installed on both vertical and horizontal PALS webbing thanks to the included attachment adapter part. Snap the male buckles to the cummerbund on the sides. For best results, attach the system to a shoulder strap without loose padding that might slide backward under the weight of the pack.
Pro tip: Avoid attaching the side buckles to a placard at the front. Instead, secure them to the cummerbund. This way, you can take off your plate carrier as usual (e.g., in emergencies) without needing to undo the straps first. If you attach the straps to the placard, you’ll need to remove them separately before taking off the plate carrier.
Why You Need This Product
- You can easily reach your backpack or back panel without assistance. Just unclip one side and swing the pack to the front. The pack stays attached to you, so you can quickly move if needed.
- These straps also allow you to use the pack like a traditional backpack. Simply detach it from the plate carrier and connect the upper and lower buckles – boom, you’ve got a backpack with shoulder straps. This can be critical for scenarios where you need to carry a mission-essential pack for an injured teammate.
Why You Might Not Want This Product
Some people just prefer the traditional backpack setup with thick, padded shoulder straps – and that’s fine. It's worth noting that the QASM buckles installed on the shoulder area of a plate carrier may take up a bit of space, which could make mounting accessories like PTTs slightly more challenging (though not impossible).
But if the features described in the "Why You Need This Product" section appeal to you, then this is a must-have!
