It's somewhat cumbersome and even a bit suspicious to always keep your Skrama in hand – so put it in a sheath! The perfect choice for this is a Taco style Kydex sheath. The sheath features the Varusteleka logo on both sides and multiple attachment points on the rim. Ambidextrous design. These sheaths are made by the American C&G Holsters.
Now available: A Kydex sheath for the Skrama 80!
Kydex is a thermoplastic material widely used in the manufacturing of various products, especially in tactical and technical applications. It is highly durable and retains its shape well – resistant to impacts, scratches, heat, and other damages, making it suitable for items such as weapon holsters and other tactical gear.
Naturally, Kydex doesn't absorb moisture, and it is a lightweight material that doesn't significantly add to the weight of equipment. Minimizing loadout weight is often crucial in field conditions. Thermoplastics are also easy to clean and disinfect – just wash it! If you have, say, inserted a gore and ichor covered blade back into the sheath after some woodland activities.
Taco and pancake models are two common types of Kydex sheaths. These two models have some differences in design and usage. Taco-shaped sheaths are shaped like a taco or tortilla, wrapping around the content. In our Terävä Kydex sheath, the material is folded in two and closed from one side. In pancake sheaths, two separate parts are stacked on top of each other and fastened on both sides, similar to our Boltaron sheaths. Pancake is wider, but it allows for a more secure attachment from both sides, while taco is narrower and enables different attachment methods. The choice between these two models depends on personal attachment needs and preferences – as they say, some like the mother, and some like the grandmother.
