Looking for a warm yet affordable wool scarf? Here’s a tubular olive green US military scarf that is exactly that. Used but not abused. We won’t necessarily get more of these that soon, so get it while you can.
This isn’t a modern-day tube scarf because it won’t fit on your head no matter how many times you see your shrink. Instead the tubular construction is designed to trap heat and keep you warm. These are a lot warmer than single-layer scarves made from similar wool.
These scarves have been widely used in the US military since the 60s and seem to be still in use. The NSN number is 8440-00-823-7520.
The ones we checked were 100% wool, which is getting rarer and rarer these days. However, there might be some newer ones in this batch that have a little bit of synth added in the mix for strength.
Dry clean or handwash gently in lukewarm suds. Do not twist or wring. Dry on a flat surface away from heat.
The official measurements seem to be 137 x 23 cm (54" x 9") But they (especially the length) can vary quite a bit. The ones that we checked had the length of 110-137 (43" x 54") and the width of 21-25 cm (8.3" x 10").
Used US military surplus. We got scarves from different manufacturers and years, so the shade and condition vary a bit. Some have seen a bit more use and some possibly none at all. In any case, they are all clean and serviceable.
