Product description

This US Army MOLLE II canteen pouch will take most standard military-issue water bottles and also works as a medium general-purpose / utility pouch. Includes just the pouch. The canteen is sold separately. Very nice condition and that sexy OCP camo!

Features

The pouch has one main compartment and two small side pockets for water purification tablets and such. Closed by two straps that come into one and attach to a plastic buckle. Adjustable height. The attachment method is your usual PALS, so it fits all kinds of MOLLE and MOLLEish things. Made from tough 1000D Cordura. Drainage grommet at the bottom.

These are manufactured in various camo patterns. This time we managed to get them in OCP, which is the current US military camo pattern and not that often available.Very hot stuff, indeed. NSN number: 8465-01-641-9310. Made in the USA.

Condition

Used US military surplus. This batch seems to have been treated a lot better than the previous one we got. Some of them might even be unused. But since this is military surplus, be prepared for some small stains, frayed seams, wrinkles, and other signs of use. Nevertheless, they are all in perfectly serviceable condition.

Did not buy from Varusteleka either. But I do like this pouch. You can fit a USGI canteen steel cup very easily. I personally use Nalgene Oasis bottle in the cup and leave the lid at the bottom. If you have trouble fitting canteens with cup to other pouches, this is the right one. The side pouches are good for snacks or teabags/coffee, lighters or other small items you find useful during tea break.

I did not buy it through Varusteleka so I can't attest to the condition of the ones they have in stock, but I have used one of these pouches for years. It's a perfect companion for hiking if you just want a quart/liter of water, and more versatile than other small canteen pouches I've seen and used. The side pockets are large enough to hold various things, such as granola bars, a zippo lighter, pocketknife (if it's not too long), etc. I tied two loops of cord to the tops of the Molle straps so I could easily attach a shoulder strap, though there are certainly other ways to go about carrying it or attaching it to things. It's obviously made for US-style canteens and will hold the whole cup and stove system with ease, but it won't hold anything significantly wider. Also, you can use it with the bottle neck exposed for easy drinking or covered up if you prefer. All-in-all, it's a nice pouch.
