Now, this is what we call luck! We happened upon a small lot of these fantastic modern tri-folders. This is originally a Finnish army model, made by Fiskars, later adopted by the US military, and now surplus and sold to us. What goes around comes around! This version has a serrated edge that the original Finnish one doesn't have. Fiskars owns Gerber so the similarity isn't just a coincidence.
The idea of the serrated edge is to use it to go through grass, roots, and undergrowth or cut into the ice and hard dirt easier. Does this work better than the original? Well, at least it makes the spade look ten times more tactical.
Note: This will not fit the Dutch E-tool MOLLE pouch so that the lid is closed.
Weight c. 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs), packs to about 26 x 17 x 7 cm (10.2" x 6.7" x 2.8") size clump, just a tad below 60 cm (23.5") long when extended.
These have all seen some field use, but overall the condition is really nice considering that these are made to dig holes. Paint can be worn, there can be some scratches and a little bit of rust where the paint has been stripped. But you can dig mightily with this for a long time.
