A small, toxic horror green rubberized sling bag or fanny pack. Well made and not completely bog troll ugly. Originally meant for the SM-74 gas mask, but handy for other uses, especially when you want to keep some nasty sludge outside or inside the bag. Either not used or very little used military surplus.
This is a kind of an elongated little lump, measuring c. 27 x 15 x 10 cm (10.5” x 6” x 4”). Inside there is a large flat inner pocket, sizewise covering the whole inside face, and one small pocket at the other end. It comes with a removable shoulder strap with four attachment points for several practical and less practical carrying options. Furthermore, there is a wide belt loop with a snap fastener.
The bag has a fairly handy snap fastener closure. Both halves of these snap fasteners are riveted on stiffener plates, so they're not coming off anytime soon. Made of olive drab rubberized nylon; rubber on the outside, nylon on the inside.
The name sort of gives away the original intended use. However, if you don’t want to carry a gas mask through post-apocalyptic New Vegas, you can use this bag e.g. for all sorts of dirty stuff, such as cooking gear or some muddy crap you found with a metal detector (remember that your laws might dictate what kind of muddy crap you can put here). Or keep all your preciouss items that need to remain dry here.
The multitude of D-rings and a separate shoulder strap provide many ways to carry this, either vertically or horizontally. No matter which way you choose, you can rig a waist strap on it too. And just by spilling out a small amount of imagination, you can attach this on the outside of your rucksack as well.
Swiss army surplus. Either unissued or used very little. In other words, in very good overall condition. They have a couple of lifetimes ahead of them.
