Product description

Swiss folks can make even a simple bread bag better, or at least in a very unique way. These rubber lover's dream bags are super durable, quite splash-proof when carried, and their clever design keeps the stuff inside quite nicely. These can be attached to Swiss packs or on the handlebars of many a bicycle!

Features

In the age of nylon, the Swiss army just updated their WW2 model bread bag with a rubber flap and that's pretty much it. This resulted in a tad old-fashioned and somewhat peculiar bag that isn’t actually that bad. These were made from the '60s to the end of the '80s by e.g. a small company called Sattler.

The bag itself is an unusual design: the afore-mentioned flap covers the canvas bag, which is divided into several compartments and is fastened with a leather strap & button. The closure design can vary to some extent. The flap covers the cloth bag so well that it will keep the contents quite dry. There are loops on the flap where you can attach e.g. a mess tin or some clothes.

The bag can be carried using the provided strap or fastened to the belt or a Swiss rucksack for extra space. If you own a bicycle, this bag can probably also be attached to the handlebars or the rear rack.

The materials are the best that a time machine to the past can offer and the craftsmanship is quite nice. If you have ever fiddled with Swiss milsurp, you know what to expect. These have most likely cost a pretty penny in their time. The measurements are approx. 25 x 30 x 13 cm. (10” x 12” x 5”).

Do you own a Swiss military pack?

If the answer is yes, buy this one too! You can use its fastening straps to attach it on the flap of the pack to increase the carrying capacity. Then detach it when you need a shoulder bag. When attached to the pack, it is delightfully impractical to open and will also make the life of a pickpocket a lot more difficult.

Condition

Swiss military surplus. All used but in serviceable condition. They might have some dirt and such, so if you want, do some cleaning or have them au naturel. The leather parts can be greased but they are fairly ok as they are.
