Warm and breathable long johns for layered clothing in professional and recreational use. Top-quality Finnish-made stuff from Svala!
Svala Merino Extreme baselayers have a 2-layer construction: the inside is moisture-wicking polypropylene and the exterior is warm Merino Wool blend with a bit of polyamide added for durability. This design keeps the skin always dry and warm: moisture is transferred away from the skin to avoid "evaporation cooling" even when you stop moving. The natural anti-bacterial properties of Merino Wool keep the garment fresh day after day.
All seams are flat to prevent pressure points and chafing. Thanks to its long fibers, Merino Wool doesn't itch as ordinary wool often does.
These are not ordinary cargo pants sizes - pay attention to get it right! Beginning from the small end, the sizes run a bit large. However, the sizes grow in 5 cm (~2") increments so the larger sizes from XL upwards are smaller than you would expect.
The recommended waist sizes are a good starting point and should be read as the maximum measurement. The cut is form-fitting: if your waist is precisely the same as recommended, you can choose the larger size without running into loose bagginess. Below is a conversion chart to inches, rounded to the nearest 1/10th of an inch.
These are not particularly long to fit a wide range of users. If you're tall and afraid of bare ankles, ensure your socks are long enough.
Made of: 75% Merino Wool, 22% polypropylene, 3% polyamide. The inside layer is moisture-wicking polypropylene and the outer layer is SuperWash and anti-moth treated Merino Wool.
All dyeing and finishing chemicals meet the ÖKO TEX 100 standard. All the Merino Wool is mulesing-free.
Thanks to its antibacterial properties, Merino Wool is odor-resistant and can be often just aired instead of washing. The product does not require washing before use.
When it is time to wash, use the wool program of your washing machine, preferably with a wool-specific detergent. Shape when moist.
Since its founding in 1955, Finnsvala has operated in Kärsämäki, North Ostrobothnia, designing and manufacturing Finnish clothes. The quality and sustainability go hand in hand from the suppliers all the way to your adventures wearing a durable piece of clothing year after year.
