A modern releasable tactical vest from Sioen Ballistics. Adopted by the Finnish Defence Forces as the M2010 Protective Vest. Comes with NIJ IIIA +15J ballistic panels and has pouches and pockets for hard plates. A single batch of unissued kit. Your chance is now or probably never!
The M2010 Tactical Vest is a rather archetypal vest of its type. This is a complete set with shoulder protectors, collar, and pull-out groin panel as well as all the necessary soft armor inserts.
Complete Weight: 5.3 kg / 11.6 lbs (Medium).
Features
The vest is adjustable for wearing height and girth. A separate elastic cummerbund allows you to wear the outer vest without constricting your movement and breathing while keeping the vest close to your body.
In addition to the usual front and back compartments for hard ballistic plates, the sides have pouches for smaller 6x6" ballistic plates. The rear has a tuckable drag handle.
The less common though not unique feature is the integrated release system. It allows the armor to be dropped in case you fall into deep water or require medical assistance. The front of the vest has a pull tab with a dual polymer cable running over both shoulders into the back of the vest. On its way, the cable runs through cord loops that run through grommets: when the cable is removed, the grommet comes off the cord loop.
The release system doubles as the size adjustment: the shoulder straps, cummerbund, and external cummerbund all have several grommets to choose from for a comfortable and secure fit.
NIJ 0101.04 explained
There are many standards but this one is the most common in Europe and widely used worldwide. Soft panels offer IIIA at most, from there it's hard plates. This vest is tested for NIJ IIIA threats and a 15-Joule strike with a spike.

Levels IIA–IIIA are tested with four hits head-on and two hits at a 30-degree angle. Level III is tested with six hits head-on. All of these would also pass the tests or all the lower levels. Level IV is tested with one hit only and it does not necessarily match the multi-hit capability of Level III. The manufacturers will state if their plates exceed the required level.
