Sioen Ballistics Tacticum Vest, NIJ IIIA

The Sioen Tacticum Vest is based on the Finnish military M10 body armor, a highly modular and configurable design that can be upgraded with added protection and SAPI style rifle threat plates if necessary. The Tacticum Vest offers good NIJ IIIA ballistic coverage for protection against shrapnel and pistol caliber bullets, additional neck, bicep, groin, and thigh protection can also be added if needed.

There are many standards but this one is the most common in Europe and widely used worldwide. Soft panels offer IIIA at most, from there it's hard plates.

Sizing and adjustments

The Tacticum Vest is available in many different sizes and it also offers a wide range of size adjustment. The sizing and fit are adjusted using hook-and-loop on the shoulders and shock cord and webbing loops on the back to adjust the circumference of the cummerbund. The shock cord enables the vest to breathe and move with the user, providing that little extra bit of comfort.

The measurements in the size menu are recommended user chest circumferences in centimeters, including the adjustment range. Various sizes weigh as follows:

• Small: 3.8 kg / 8.4 lbs
• Medium: 3.9 kg / 8.6 lbs
• Large: 4.0 kg / 8.8 lbs

The Tacticum series of body armour was originally developed and produced by Verseidag Ballistic Protection (one of Finlands leading producers of ballistic equipment and a huge supplier of the Finnish defence forces). In 2017, Belgium-based Sioen purchased Verseidag, the gear is still the same, only under a different name.
