Attaching optics to an AK is certainly possible but always a choice between various ingenillious pieces of enginerding. Here's one solution especially for scopes with a limited eye relief. Also suitable for the combination of a red dot and magnifier.
The Saiga Rifle Picatinny Rail is certainly not complex: you replace the tangent rear sight with the front of the rail, pivot the rail down over the receiver cover, and screw into the rear trunnion of the fixed stock. As should go without saying, the rail is not compatible with folding stocks. Also, some fitting is to be expected.
Made from HTN/50 polymer, the rail is lightweight (60 g / 2.1 oz) and durable. It has fixing points at both ends and a support in the middle to retain zero even in hard use.
