Merino wool is a fantastic choice for next-to-skin wear; most notably it feels good against the skin and retains it´s insulating properties even when soaking wet. So it's like regular wool, but better. Oh, and did we already mention how nice it feels?

L1 - Base Layer

The first layer of the Varusteleka clothing system, tasked with moisture management. A good next-to-skin base layer keeps you feeling comfortable in any conditions to do this it needs to be lightweight and effectively moisture wicking. We use a lightweight merino wool blend for our base layers, natural and very functional material for this purpose.

Very tough stuff unlike the pure wool sarma counterpart. You want it to last, you'll want these. But if your only gonna wear one base layer, I'd go L2, Just as moisture wicking but the wool is actually soft and plushy, this isn't. Meant to be a real skin tight kinda thing. And on that note, too late for me I shoulda read others comments, do size up. The shirt and the leggings I can't barely get on and I'm honestly impressed I haven't torn a seam in the trying. You know, wool expands thought I could salvage it. I have skinny ankles and wrists it don't matter. Size, up.

I'm 6 feet tall 215 pounds 38-40 waist and the XL fits me great! I work construction here in Canada and these things are absolute godsends. I have the L2 merino wool longsleeve with the balaclava, loft pants and Merino wool boot socks so basically winter is my b*tch now lol. I sweat a lot in these and they never chafe or get uncomfortable even with 12 hour shifts. Varusteleka easily has the best priced merino wool gear that I have ever seen. Best part is the quality doesnt take a hit with the very affordable prices.
