Our hat makers found a small piece of this wonderful Finnish army WW2 style cotton fabric, we decided to turn it into a small batch of these Finnish "verikauha" style field caps, the so called "Lotta cap". A high quality reproduction, perfect for hot summer days.
This type of headwear was very popular in Finland during the first half of the 20th century, starting from our civil war and slowly fading out after WW2. During WW2 Finnish troops used a number of different hats all based on this design, this lightweight grey cotton cap was most commonly associated with the Lotta's, our female volunteers. It's feminine history aside this is a good piece of headwear for any man, woman, transgender person or sexually neutral being. Take that you sexual equality internet warriors!
Pure cotton, wash in 30 degrees celsius. This peculiar cotton is incredibly difficult to find these days but we got lucky when the hat makers found a small leftover piece in their warehouse. This is pretty darn identical to the fabric used on WW2 era Finnish M36 summer tunics and this type of caps, unfortunately when this little lot of caps are sold there will be no more.
Särmä Classic is our family of old timey reproductions, basically only clothing for now but hopefully also Finnish field gear in the future. To begin with we are focusing WW2 era clothing that looks good enough for everyday wear out on the town.
