When brought close together, two neodymium magnets pull the buckle shut like a piranha grabs meat in a non-vegan fish convention. However, there's a literal catch: once shut, the buckle has angled lugs to provide solid mechanical locking, which can only be disengaged by pulling on a tab. The tab operates very lightly by default, but when the buckle is bearing weight, more force is required to open it.
The female buckle is 34 mm / 1.3" wide outside, so the belt can be passed through belt loops without removing the buckle. The right side of the buckle has a 10 cm / 3.9" fuzzy loop patch area.
Constructed of two webbing layers with a stiffener in between, the belt runs straight and isn't afraid of pouches and holsters.
