Product details
Product description

We got some really exotic gloves from France. Long cuff, no lining, and a finger for pulling the trigger or picking your nose. The unholy alliance of cotton and leather created these thin and breathable mittens that are quite tough for all sorts of grabbing action and allow you to sort of shoot, too. Ugly as fuck but in a kinda loving way. And the color combo does create a sort of poor man’s camo effect. And we guarantee you won’t encounter similar mitts on the street that often.

Features

These don’t have any lining, so if you plan on using them during cold seasons, buy a big enough pair and put merino wool gloves or fingerless gloves underneath. The palm and the underside of the fingers are made from brown leather, and the rest of the glove is green cotton. The wrist has a snap fastener made from leather.

Size info

We have these in three sizes; number 1 being the smallest and 3 the largest. The length of the glove doesn’t change much, but the palm width increases a bit. Number one is 13 cm (5.1”) wide, number two 13.5 cm (5.3”), and number three 14 cm (5.5”). So, none of these are very small. The width of the trigger finger also increases slightly.

Condition

The condition varies a bit. Some appear unused, and some have seen some use, but none are in a shitty condition The canvas part can have small stains, and the leather parts some wear. You might wanna grease the leather because these have been in a warehouse for a long while, and the leather might be a bit too dry.

Charming product ... those are fairly substantial mittens, the description is pretty much on target. Mine def. have seen some field action, dirt, grime and overall wetness - which is OK with me, it's surplus after all. I bought them for e-scootering (trigger-throttle!) during the cold season... and they just might work for that... Be aware the trigger-finger-leather was so dry and stiff, I could hardly curl the index-finger and when I did, there was a cracking sound from the leather (the leather did NOT break!) so be aware, there is some serious amount of heavy leather in those - and they have probably been stored longer than you are alive - They are NOT your German BW gloves, with are rather gentlemanly compared to those! Those seem rather be thought for swinging a medieval bi-hand maze or so ... Come to think of it, that stiff trigger finger might be a good fit for ANAL-probing if you are into that kind of thing ... On a more serious note, the triggerfinger-cavity is quite thin and with plenty of rather rough leather joints/seams to be felt laterally in its interior ... so a good chance of hot-spots if you wear them for quite some time, but we will see that ultimately! I have them currently washing/drying and will then treat the leather and see if I can get them more supple. Right now they have the look and feel of old grimey welding gloves and are similarly bulky. Sizewise: I bought the largest ones ("3") and normally have 9,5 size of gloves, they are on the short side of an OKish-fit (triggerfinger and its joining the rest of the mitten is rather short, so you cannot move the index-finger completely independently) ... so if you have bigger hands than me you might be pushing it size-wise, especially lengthwise ... width should be OK preliminary verdict: 3,5 stars, and a recommendation within its limitations I will update in a couple of days (unless I forget ;-) UPDATE: those cleaned up beautifully ... I rubbed more shit-expensive french leather conditioner into those babies than I paid for them but I got the leather into fairly nice shape ... again, it's substantial leather, so you wont be doing retina-re-attachment OPs with those ... but they do what they are supposed to do - a fairly hardcore mitten that is best used with glove liners. Cant speak to its warmth yet (entering summer down here ;-) ... but they are def. one of my smarter investments I made in my life. I UP my eval from 3,5 to 4 stars - so if you are a glove size 9,5 or smaller and in the business of heavy-duty mittens - those are pretty much a no brainer. The trigger-finger is a welcome bonus for me as I stay warm and use the trigger-throttle on my PEV

I bought size 2. My hand is 22 cm around the palm and 18 cm fingertip to wrist. The fit of size 2 is snug around the palm and very long beyond my fingers. I have room for a thin liner glove but not, for example, any of the surplus woolen trigger finger mitts or gloves I have purchased here. Dry rot weakened the leather tab that connects the adjustment strap's D-ring to the glove. Easy fix, it's surplus, no complaint. Be prepared for some remedial sewing. My pair is somewhat more flexible than the other reviewer's. They still are in need of leather care paste. The canvas is sound. In comparable sizes, these are "smaller" in cut than the various surplus US mitts available here and elsewhere. With a thin liner they will serve well for conditions that do not require a more robust mitt.
