This traditional kuksa cup is made of a Finnish eco composite. In addition to looking and feeling great, the Kupilka is durable and easy to clean. Kupilka is a Karelian word for "favorite cup".
The Forgotten Weapons edition is the Kelo color cup with the logo of Ian's channel laser-engraved on the side.
Finnish supercomposite!
When you handle the cup, it kinda feels like good old bakelite. It's Kareline, a natural fibre composite: Eco-friendly cellulose fibres from certified Finnish forests reinforce the material with FDA approved polypropylene used as an adhesive.
The material has a nice amount of good features:
- Can take both boiling water (+100°C / 212 F) as well as -30°C / -22 F temperatures.
- Can be hand or machine washed.
- Does not absorb smells or tastes: you can drink tea, coffee, water, and booze from it!
- Dyed with colors that are approved for food contact. There is no coating that would wear off during use.
The products can be recycled as plastic, burned for heat energy, or returned to the manufacturer for re-use. Kupilka fulfils the EU requirements 10/2011 and 1935/2004/EC §3: approved to be used for food/drinks and doesn’t contain any bamboo or other plant-based fibers that aren’t approved by the regulation.
Made by Kupilka
Kupilka is a Finnish company that started to make eco composite material products in the early 2000s. The company values the environment and recycling, which are coincidentally the same things we hold in high regard. Made in Finland!
