A very simple foldable transparent map case from the Czech Republic. Put the map inside, and it won’t turn into pulp when it rains, and you won’t leave your sticky fingerprints all over it. Note that these have a very skillful desert camo, so nobody can bomb your maps when they end up in the Sahara.
This map case is part of the Czech modular MNS 2000 load-bearing system. It is made from transparent plastic, and the borders feature the desert camo pattern. When folded shut, these are 22 x 30 cm (8.7" x 11.8") and when open 43 x 30 cm (16.9" x 11.8"). A sturdy zipper closure.
The ones that we checked were made from 100% polyester, but there can also be other synthetic material combos. They were manufactured by a Czech company called S.P.M. Liberec, which makes sewn load-bearing gear and other tactical gear for the military and law enforcement. However, there can be other manufacturers as well because contracts vary.
Unissued Czech military surplus. However, these have been lying in the warehouse for quite some time. The ones that we checked, were from 2010, but there can also be some other years. Nevertheless, nobody has abused these in the warehouse, and they are in excellent condition.
