Measurements

Made in simple sizes. When you pick the size you usually wear, the fit will be just a tad on the small size. This is intentional, as in use these will form to a perfect shape. If you want more relaxed mittens, get one size larger.

Technical details and instructions

Materials

70% merino wool, 30% alpaca wool (350 g/m2. 20.5 - 21 microns). Our merino wool is mulesing-free. With alpaca wool, such measures have not been necessary ever, so it's quite ethical by virtue.

Care

The mittens can be machine-washed at 40°C (104°F) with a wool cycle. Wool care products (ones with lanolin, too) are recommended. Hang to dry.

  • Thick, stretchy rib knit
  • Heavenly blend of alpaca and sheep
  • Made in Finland!

Alpaca is a relatively new arrival in the vast wastelands of Finland, but we're slowly getting acquainted with it. We already have alpaca farms here, you know! When you take alpaca and merino wool and turn them into a pair of well-thought-out traditional mittens, you have something damn nice on your hands!

These are crafted from double-layered wool with a stretchy rib-knit. They also work extremely well with leather shell mittens.

Alpaca is up to three times as warm as lambswool, and it won't pile up easily. However, it doesn’t contain lanolin either. Merino wool is extremely fine lambswool and traps warmth like there's no tomorrow - all in all a tried and true material. Both wools are pretty warm even when wet and won't stink easily, thanks to their anti-bacterial properties.

Two colors

The available colors are dark brown and grey. As said before, these are the natural shades of the animals and haven't been treated in any way. Just like in nature, the color can vary slightly from batch to batch.

Being untreated, they also have the natural odor of the animal, which will wear off with use. We think this is a lovely scent, kinda reminds us of a farm.
