Everyone should have a square scarf: it's stylish, versatile, and comfy. Here's a Merino woolen scarf that offers better functionality, even more comfort, and a better blend-in without age-old woven patterns. The wool is so fine that it doesn't even itch.

As so often with fashion, armed forces have been the forerunners (in the West) who realized the practical value of square scarves. The British men at arms have been using shemaghs for over 70 years and in the Gulf War it was introduced to American forces as well.

The Varusteleka Large Square Scarf is, for all intents and purposes, just a really nice 110 x 110 cm (43" x 43") shemagh made from Merino wool, and it lacks the tell-tale fishnet pattern weaves. Merino wool retains more insulating properties even when wet, and is generally regarded as the best thing you can wear next to your skin.

The scarf of a million uses

A square scarf, warm and comfy when folded as a triangle and worn around the neck, but can be tied to cover the entire head, leaving just a slit for the eyes to protect the wearer from the elements. But that's not all! Here's a list of examples of how to use this Swiss-Army Knife of wearable stuff:

• Dust protection.
• Sun protection.
• Swag-bag.
• Arm sling.
• Blanket.
• Pillow.
• Picnic cloth.

The scarf is flat enough that you can close most jackets while wearing it.
