Here you’ll find all our rain clothes and rain gear for military use, hiking, or other outdoor activities. However, they are perfectly suited for sports and everyday use, too.

Our waterproof rain gear collection includes rain jackets, hardshell jackets, rain ponchos, and rain and hardshell pants. They come in solid colors and various camo patterns. We have both new and surplus rain gear to cover your whole body if needed.

When you have good waterproof gear on, the misery caused by a rainstorm is not as great, no matter where in the world you are. A rain suit is more practical than an umbrella, which eliminates one hand out of the equation and doesn’t protect the whole body. A lightweight raincoat or a rain poncho packs small, which is a nice thing when you don’t want to carry the whole world with you.

Rain poncho, rain anorak, or hardshell jacket?

Rain apparel comes in many forms. The rain poncho is an old invention, but ever so popular among soldiers and hunters, and for a reason. One multi-use garment keeps you and your backpack sheltered from the rain. And it can also be used for a temporary shelter.
The rain anorak and hardshell jacket have a better fit and thus work better when you spring into action. Hardshell jackets breathe better than traditional rain coats, and they often have ventilation zips. The idea of a waterproof rain suit is to keep you dry. If you sweat like hell, that idea fails.

Unisex rain gear

We don’t normally divide our selection into rain gear for women and rain gear for men. The basic idea of both men's rainwear and women’s rainwear is to stay dry and not look fashionable. So if you are looking for men’s rainwear jackets or women's rainwear coats, you are in the right place. If you search for, e.g., the best motorcycle rain gear for women that makes you look like the Bride, you might wanna look elsewhere.

New or military surplus?

Sometimes we also have military surplus rain gear. These are a lot more affordable than the new ones, and many are unissued, which is an awesome deal. The downside is that these aren’t usually the highest-tech, which means they can be fairly heavy.

Frequently asked questions about rain gear

What does the NIR compatibility mean in rain gear?

It means that the rain clothing is designed in a way that the color/camo pattern doesn’t glow like a beacon of Gondor when viewed through night-vision gear. This is essential in military use, and will increase the cost a bit. In civilian use, this feature isn’t absolutely necessary unless your neighborhood stalker is a gearhead.

How durable are hardshell clothes?

The durability of hardshell clothing depends on the quality, construction, and intended use vs. the actual use and care. The self-destructing Temubaba clothes will probably melt onto your skin, coating you in radioactive goo. High-quality military clothing will also survive the horrors of civilian life much better than fast fashion.

Nothing lasts forever in cold November rain. Harsh, everyday exercise wears your clothing much faster than a single annual hike. If you are in the former category, get gear made for that. If you just stand still, professional gear is overkill. A hardshell jacket usually lasts much longer than hardshell pants because of how they are used.

What’s the difference between a hardshell jacket and a rain jacket?

Membrane-based clothing usually breathes better than traditional rainwear. Breathability isn’t, of course, as good as in regular clothing, but a lot better than that of heavy-duty rain gear. The more traditional rubbery rain clothes will not let a drop of water inside, but will not let a drop of sweat outside either. The downside of hardshell clothing is a fairly high price. If you move a lot, go with the hardshell jacket. If you stay still and have a tight budget, get a rain coat or poncho.

How do I know that the rain gear is waterproof?

Check the waterproof rating. Waterproof ratings are measured in millimeters (mm) and indicate the amount of water pressure a fabric can withstand. The larger the number, the more waterproof it is generally, but breathability diminishes. 20,000 mm jackets can withstand biblical rainstorms. 10,000 mm is a good compromise between waterproofness and breathability.

In addition, check that the rainwear has taped seams. If, for example, the rainwear pants don’t have them, they will let water in through the seams, and your ass will get wet. Furthermore, they should have a water-repellency treatment.
