NIJ III++ ICW level protection

This armor platerequires NIJ IIIA armor backingto reach the specified level of protection! For example a SAPI cut NIJ IIIA insert. The plate has no specified protection level when worn alone.

The NIJ 101.06 standard level III is tested with six hits from a 7.62 NATO rifle. In short, it offers protection from common non-AP rifle rounds.

The suffix ++ is used by many manufacturers to market plates that offer more protection than just the standard it exceeds. In this case, the plates are tested to take multiple hits from the SS109 cartridge as well as the Russian 7N10.
