25 storm matches for making a fire in howling wind, rain, or a blizzard of a madman. Take these along when you go hiking, hunting, or fishing. Or stash some in your bugout bag for that figurative rainy day. Keep regular matches with you for nice weather though. They are cheaper and do the trick when the weather doesn't try to kill you.
These matches are easy to light in shitty weather and will not go out that easily even if you dunk them in water after lighting them. They come in a matchbox with strikers. Inside the box, the matches are packed in a plastic bag and there are also two spare strikers in a sealed plastic bag. The matchbox is water-resistant but not waterproof. If the strikers get soggy and soft, they won’t strike anything. Store extra strikers in waterproof bag after use to keep dry. If matches become wet, just wipe dry before use.
The box contains 25 storm matches that are c. 7 cm (2.75") long. A full matchbox weighs c. 28 g (0.99 oz) in case you like to weigh everything. Be careful when striking the match since sparks can fly off the igniting head. Monitor lit matches until completely burned. Store matches separately from strikers to prevent accidental ignition. After using the match, run it in water to be certain that it will not set anything else on fire.
