The shoulder pads attach directly beneath the shoulder straps of your plate carrier. There are no guarantees regarding the protection level, so these are sold as affordable surplus items.

The shoulder pads feature webbing through which the plate carrier’s shoulder straps are threaded (the shoulder straps must be openable for threading). On the outer edge of the shoulder pad, there is a plastic buckle for attaching an upper arm protector.

PICO Plate Carrier

These shoulder pads are designed to be used with TYR Tactical PICO plate carrier models. They can be easily attached beneath the shoulder straps but are also compatible with other carriers that have similar attachment options.

Why Were These Shoulder Pads Invented?

Shrapnel falling from above is a significant threat on the battlefield. While the primary ballistic plates of a plate carrier protect the front and back torso, the shoulder area is often exposed to injuries – for example, when lying prone in a firing position.

Condition

Made in the USA surplus, likely from the discard bins of a NATO country’s armed forces. These shoulder pads are mostly in unused, like-new condition – some are still in their original packaging. Minor storage marks may be present on some items, so we avoid using the term "unissued" in the name. Some items are marked with a manufacturing date of 11/2018.
