A pouch for two 30rd AR15 magazines with a protective lid – the lid is secured shut with a tuck tab and/or hook & loop. The pouch has circumferential bungee cord retention, which means the magazines won’t be bouncing around and making noise while you move. This magazine pouch also features a PALS and belt compatible attachment system.
Durable Savotta pouches with great features and attachment options now available!
Features
When you need to carry magazines in conditions other than dry indoors, you might want to consider mag pouches with flap closure. A flap or lid will stop mud, snow, and dirt from getting in your mags and consequently in your weapon system. Generally speaking you should avoid e.g. chambering muddy or sandy rounds in your weapon.
This mag pouch will take two AR15 rifle mags such as Magpul PMAG® 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 (without ranger plates or other extensions). The pouch also features:
- Protective lid w/ a tuck tab and hook & loop closure
- Integrated hook & loop "deactivation flap"
- Bungee cord for circumference and retention adjustments
- Reinforced bottom part – this usually gets the most punishment
- MOLLE/PALS and belt attachment (45-50 mm / 1.8"-2.0" belts)
- Drainage grommet
Instead of two AR15 rifle mags this pouch can take e.g. one AR10 or HK417/MR308 mag, an IFAK insert, a flashbang/smoke, or comms (such as AN/PRC-148 / 163 or smaller).
Tuck tab system
The lid is closed using a polyethylene reinforced tuck tab and hook & loop. A tuck tab is mechanically very simple, but extremely reliable compared to plastic buckles, press studs or just using hook & loop. This system is almost identical to how the attachment straps are locked into place on Savotta PALS attachable pouches, just shorter and with a grip tab for rapid opening.
The hook & loop allows the pouch to stay securely closed even when half empty, and to be quickly closed without using the tuck tab. The hook panel can be covered with an integrated deactivation loop flap for silent operation.
Note: You might want to bend the tuck tab of a brand new pouch to a banana shape – it will work a lot more smoothly this way. Don’t worry, the polyethylene will not break when bent this way.
