Product description

Not your average loose-fitting "buff", but a proper toque. This neck gaiter was designed especially to be tight fitting to keep it up and securely against your neck. Lightweight merino wool construction, highly breathable, comfortable, and moisture-wicking.

  • Close fit to keep it upright
  • Longer front for better coverage
  • Flatlock seams, no thick folds that could cause discomfort.
  • Double-layered lightweight Merino wool.
  • Weight 30 g / 1 oz
  • 80/20 merino wool / polyester, 180 g/m2.
  • Length in the front 28 cm / 11" and in the back 20 cm / 8"
  • 19.5 micron.

As said, this thing is tighter than most similar designs out there. If you have a bigger head (Size EU60 US7.5" or larger), you may find it quite tight to pull over your head. These stretch out a bit over time, and most importantly; when you get it where you want it, it stays there and does its job.

L1 - Base Layer

The first layer of the Särmä TST clothing system, tasked with moisture management. A good next-to-skin base layer keeps you feeling comfortable in any conditions to do this it needs to be lightweight and effectively moisture-wicking. We use a lightweight merino wool blend for our base layers, natural and very functional material for this purpose.

I have to concur with the guy who strongly emphasized that this is a neck warmer that warms the neck. He’s absolutely 100% correct in this assessment. It doesn’t double as a hat. Get that out of your head right now. You pull it on OVER your head with the flap facing down so it spreads out a little on the top of your chest, or you can put it on upside down so the flap covers your mouth and nose. I like it. I use it. It works for me. When not in use in that way I use it to roll up my sunglasses to keep them from getting smashed. Also, it’s made of Merino, which is Italian for Moth Food. Seriously folks, get some moth balls or a cedar trunk and put all your Merino products in it because the moths will go through it like something that goes through something inevitably and inexorably, whatever that thing may be.

I have the normal merino buff and this. I use the Buff for everyday use and this one for sports in Winter. Material is the same scratch free Merino as the other things on offer.

Snug fit ti say the least as I have a wide neck, it will (hopefully) stretch a bit after using it.
