This breathable mesh scarf of the South African Defence Force was designed for the scorching heat of Africa. Because many parts of the world are nowadays as hot as the rhino’s ass in the summertime, these are quite nice elsewhere, too. Use as a scarf or a camo face mask.
These mesh scarves are standard-issue gear in South Africa. The mesh breathes very well and wicks moisture from the skin but still protects you from the hostile sun. Not originally designed for camouflage purposes but they are quite well suited for that, too. The mesh makes your face more difficult to spot but allows you to monitor your surrounding quite well.
These didn’t come with information on the materials but these kinds of scarves have at least been manufactured in 80/20 wool/Nylon in the past. However, all sorts of other combos are also possible.
Used South African military surplus. These are intact and perfectly serviceable though.
