Here’s a big and rugged Romanian military backpack that comes with a separate day pack. Use it individually or as a large general-purpose pouch on the larger one. Two in one and completely unissued so a brilliant bargain and the perfect companion on long hikes! Only a very small batch, so act fast. Or prepare to wander across the dark and desolate land looking for your preciousss for eternity.
This modular backpack system was copied from the US CFP-90 simply because it is a bloody good carrying system. It was originally designed for transporting military gear and for climbing. However, it is also perfect for longer hikes and hunting, fishing, or bushcraft use.
It comes with a large backpack and an additional small daypack that together have a volume of 90 liters. You can use them together or with the small pack attached to the front panel of the large backpack. Or carry most of the stuff in the big one and use the smaller one for smaller day trips from the base camp. Or use them separately, the bigger one for hiking and the smaller one as an everyday pack. Or any way you want.
The large backpack has one large main compartment that cannot be divided. It closes with a drawcord and a flap with buckles. The flap has straps for attaching e.g. a sleeping pad on top. The straps can be gathered nicely inside hook and loop flaps so that they don’t dangle here and there when not in use.
There are also two large side pouches that cannot be detached. They are closed with buckles. One of the pouches has an opening underneath it and a strap above so you can push a longer item underneath the pouch and tighten it to the strap.
The backpack has quite wide and nicely padded shoulder straps that can be adjusted from both the top and the bottom. Furthermore, the upper back support is padded. However, the hip belt is a bit flimsy in comparison to modern backpacks and unpadded, and there is no sternum strap. There is a carrying handle at the top.
The small daypack can either be used as a large general-purpose pouch on the big backpack or on its own as a small backpack. It is fixed on the large one with straps and trident buckles. The shoulder straps are cleverly hidden behind a hook and loop panel. They are padded and adjustable at the bottom.
The pack only has one compartment, approximately 36 x 28 x 12 cm. However, you can increase the carrying capacity quite significantly by attaching more stuff on the outside. The pack has straps on the sides and at the top and bottom for this purpose.
The backpack is made of a high tenacity polyester fabric. The good thing about military gear is that it is made to survive wars. Therefore they can take quite a bit of civilian life, too. The protective supports and shoulder straps feature polyethylene foam.
Unissued Romanian military surplus made by the Belgian protective clothing manufacturer Seyntex. So, these are unused and clean. In other words, an awesome deal.
Established in 1908, Seyntex has been making protective clothing for more than a century. During WWII their flax weaving factory specialized in manufacturing canvas for the British Army. In the 1990s, this family-owned company became a forerunner in high-tech fabrics. Today they are globally recognized as an expert and innovator in personal protective and outdoor clothing and gear.
