Compared to a regular Tactikka the Core-version does more than just come with a battery as standard. It's more powerful and has two beams. In addition to professional use, you can keep one at home for cases when you change a broken lightbulb, walk the dog at night, go camping, and so on.
With everything beginning from coffee cups being USB-rechargeable these days, it's a pleasure to notice that Petzl has retained the option to use 3x AAA batteries, should you wish or need to.
Three settings
Petzl likes to keep things simple and we agree: this light has three modes.
- White light: Wide and smooth and a pointy beam, three power modes
- Red light: retains your adaptation to twilight
- Red beacon: draws attention in case of emergency
Max. beam distance: 90 metres (100 yards), longest burn time: 130 h, max brightness: 450 lm.
Specs and info
The only switch is easy to use with gloves on but doesn't activate easily by mistake. Changing the battery pack or batteries is easy and all contact surfaces are stainless. Please note that it's possible to forcefully install the battery incorrectly in a fashion that bends the light's contact point. In this case, you can simply bend it backward with a small screwdriver. Just install the battery correctly to avoid the problem in the first place.
