Old neck tube toques from France. Protect your neck from the cold or get two of these to keep your thighs warm!
Tubular scarves are an age-old invention and they are made even today, even though they are less often issued in armed forces. This French item is made from wool or a wool blend and are unused but stored for a long time. Unfortunately, someone thought it's a good idea to attach tags to some of these with a stapler so a hole caused by a broken thread is not an uncommon sight. Luckily, patching is not difficult and these days repaired things are fashionable again.
The size is rather tight and might constrict thick-necked folks or if you get easily distressed in confined spaces. With time, the tube loosens a bit and wool as they are, can be reshaped when moist for a better fit. One way to use this is to fold it in half and use as a neckwarmer.
Unissued condition but these have a long storage history. The colors vary from a neutral gray to a darker brownish green. About one in three have a hole so you are likely to find one. Prepare to patch these and at the very least these can use a good airing before use.
