Product description

The F2 backpack is a huge improvement over the earlier F1 model. This is basically a remake of the old '40s paratrooper pack, just made from more modern materials. Lots of pockets and details, a good solid pack and really cheap too.

Lots and lots of pockets and details:

  • Large lid, closed with two straps and buckles. The top of the lid has attachment points for tie-down straps.
  • Two buckles near the mouth of the pack to attach the lid when over-packing.
  • Main compartment, dimensions approx. 30 x 27 x 15 cm (12" x 10.5" x 2").
  • Back pocket, dimensions approx. 30 x 20 x 5 cm. (12" x 8" x 2").
  • Side pockets, dimensions approx. 30 x 15 x 6 cm (12" x 6" x 2.4").
  • Flat pocket against the back, dimensions approx. 25 x 25 cm (10" x 10").
  • Carry handle.
  • Attachment points for tie-down straps on the bottom.
  • Nicely padded shoulder straps, the left hand one has a quick-release buckle for emergencies.

The material is a really strong rubberized canvas. Buckles vary a bit depending on the age of the back. Some have metal buckles, some have plastic ones.

Used military surplus

These have clearly seen some use, some more, some less. But they are still in perfectly serviceable condition.

Excellent thing this is. Roomy with lots of compartments, including one on each side big enough for a thermos or bottle.

Excellent. It arrived a little dirtier but completely intact and usable. Extremely firm and reliable, and bought for peanuts. With a little cleaning it became like new. Thanks Varustelek

At the time of writing this review, this bag is out of stock. To those in the future reading this while this bag is available, it is a cool bag. (I got the older metal loop style buckles on mine so I will need some time to get used to it.) The crazy thing was I found a fork and a knife in the back pocket of my bag. Both the fork and knife have "Inox France" marking on, and I presume they belong to the previous owner of my bag (poor guy, what are they gonna use to eat now..). I don't know how often this would happen when buying surplus gear, but I can only dream of some authentic utensils whenever I buy a bag. I guess I got lucky there. So, maybe if you buy this bag you might get a surplus rifle grenade of some sort, who knows?
