Product description

German WWII helmet used in Finland from WWII to at least until the 1980s, possibly even later than that. An iconic piece of Finnish military history. These are very heavily used and shittily maintained and thus sold a lot cheaper than the better ones. Might have holes, tears, rust, missing parts, and such. Excellent projects for handy folks.

History

Originally supplied by Germany to Finland during the Second World War when the Finnish manufacturers couldn’t meet the increasing demand. They were refitted with new suspension and chin straps in Finland. All shells are German: some post-war, some made during the war years. Most have also been repainted in the happy Finnish shade of gray. Some are still German "graybrowngreen".

Size info

There can be various sizes in this batch but they are all mixed. You order a helmet, you get a helmet of some size that might fit you or might not. Then again, people believe in the lottery and your chances are a lot better here, maybe.

Condition

Heavily abused and/or defective. The metal can be dented, a bit torn, rusty, or come with extra holes. The paint can be chipped. Furthermore, the suspension/straps might be broken or missing. On the outside, these do look like helmets and are perfectly suited as props, military chic interior decoration, and such. A handy person can turn these into proper helmets as well. When in good condition, these Finnish helmets cost craploads more, because they are getting rare. So, get a bunch, fix them, and become the first helmet millionnaire. Or at least a thousandaire.
