This canteen model was in use by the German Bundeswehr since the 50s to the 00s, but probably discontinued by now. We hope? A cute cocoon that consists of three parts, of which the bottle itself is the most difficult part to get your hands into. Aww, Germans.
This is a classic case of German engineering, as it consists of three parts; the bottle itself, one cup with a handle, and one without. Using the system in a hurry is difficult; this is probably a carryover thought from the very olden days when soldiers drank water only on command. In the "modern" webbing system there's a separate pouch for this, on the classic Y-strap model you are supposed to hang the bottle from your bread bag.
The condition is used but intact. We can't guarantee these are 100 % safe to use due to their surplus nature, but so far we've had no complaints about anyone dying. There was one case where a customer drank from an East German canteen and got the shits, but that's it. So, although this is a Western product, give it a thorough cleaning before use. The models vary a bit, some are older, some newer.
