Product description

Net underwear is not only sexy but incredibly functional too! Aclima WoolNet, made of Merino Wool, represents the best you can get when it comes to base layers.

  • Athletic fit
  • Reinforced shoulders, sides, and elbows
  • WoolNet: 80/20 Merino Wool / Polyamide, 120 g/m2, 19.5 micron
  • Rib: 96/4 Merino Wool / Elastane
Aclima undergarments are issued by the Danish and Norwegian armed forces. Aclima is also part of the Nordic Combat Uniform joint project between Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

The concept of net base layers is not new at all, but few manufacturers develop and manufacture these with such a high level of devotion as Aclima. The loops of the net form air pockets to keep outer garments (possibly wet and cold) off the skin and reduce loss of body heat thru conduction. Choosing Merino Wool as the material enhances the functionality even further.

Size info

WoolNet adapts to various body shapes and is most effective when the size is not too large. The increments are 6 cm / 2.4", which is a bit unusual, but here are the recommended user's chest measurements for each size. If your chest measures a little bit (2.5 cm / 1" or so) over these, the smaller one is probably better.

SizeChest (cm)Chest (in)
Small95 cm37.4"
Medium101 cm39.8"
Large107 cm42.1"
X-Large113 cm44.5"
2X-Large119 cm46.9"

Sizes get a bit taller incrementally towards larger sizes, but tall and slender people don't need to worry. Again, thanks to stretch and the inherent properties of the net material we confidently recommend these to regular and tall people alike.

Material and care

The net is 80 % merino wool, 20 % polyamide, and the ribs are 96 % merino wool, 4 % elastane. Wash inside out at 40 degrees Celcius with wool detergent and wool program. Form when wet and hang to dry.

Made by Aclima

Damn comfy and makes a great base layer. I haven't had it long enough to speak to the durability, but the quality workmanship is obvious and I have no doubt it will last a long time.

I have used 3 major makers of fishnets; the Norwegian BRYNJE which is impossible to find and expensive, the US made WIGGYS which is synthetic and now Aclima. I always go wool, having been burned on my arm and pocketbook by synthetics. If you have a solid base layer doubling up increases your insulation at minimum weight with increased flexibility. People with circulation problems ( a travel hazard sitting for extended periods in high altitude commercial flights) will find the slight compression very helpful.

These are top notch. Fit is very good once you find the right size. I’m 183 cm/78kg with a wide chest and use size medium. Flat seams really make a difference after several days of constant use. Heat/comfort to weight ratio is outstanding. Good to know: woolnet can be a bit abrasive for the first uses. Especially if you wear only a thin hardshell jacket and carry a heavy backpack. The crew neck is more versatile, the polo neck is a bit high and a bit too tight.
