Use

Combining functionality and heat is always a compromise. Big, thick mittens keep your fingers very warm but prevent you from doing anything, and skin-tight precision gloves allow all the ninja tricks but with frozen fingers. These fall nicely in between. Quite a warm insulation, yet pretty dextrous fingers that can still, e.g. operate guns and smartphones. When it is really cold, wear these under thicker mittens.
