Technical details and instructions

The sewing needle comes with a bobbin full of thick thread, two different needles, a tension wrench, and clearly illustrated instructions for use.

  • Thinner needle: 150/22 1/2
  • Thicker needle: 180/24

Here's how to work this here thing:

  • Make sure there is enough yarn in the pole. We recommend using a decent thick thread (included).
  • Remove the tip lock piece and install a suitable needle.
  • Thread the thread through the eye of the needle.
  • Install the lock piece in place and tighten it with the tool provided.
  • Now you are ready to start sewing.
  • Insert the needle and thread through the material to be sewn and pull the thread out as much as your project needs.
  • Pull the needle out and push through at the next point where you want to stitch.
  • When the needle is properly pushed through the material, pull it back slightly to create a loop in the thread. Thread the other thread (the lower thread) all the way through the loop.
  • Pull the awl out, tightening the stitch, and at the same time use some force to tighten the other thread.
  • Pull a little more thread out from inside the awl and continue sewing in the same way.
  • When you're ready to finish, push the needle through the material, but don't thread the bobbin thread through the loop again. Pull out more thread from the awl, enough to make a knot.
  • Jawohl, cut it! After cutting the thread, pull out the awl, tie the ends together and you're done. We did some experiments, and we found that by sewing a few notches backwards, you don't really need to make a knot. That's an old trick as well.
