Varusteleka Clothing System
Layered clothing is the key to remaining functional no matter what nature throws at you. Varusteleka produces clothing for the harsh northern climate, where the weather can be your worst enemy if you aren’t appropriately dressed. Combine the layers based on the weather and your activity level.
L1 Base Layer – ideal next-to-skin layer year-round
The first layer of the Varusteleka clothing system is made from a lightweight and moisture-wicking merino wool blend. The material preserves the breathability and warmth of wool while adding the durability needed for tough military missions. It is an ideal next-to-skin layer for year-round use. It helps keep you warm in the wet and freezing temperatures, but also cool in more temperate climates.
L2 Mid Layer – added warmth when the temperature drops
The second layer is perfect for layering in cooler conditions. It wicks moisture forward from the base layer, providing additional thermal insulation. The L2 can also be used as a next-to-skin layer, enhancing the system's flexibility. Our mid-layer is made from a midweight merino wool blend. It has a more relaxed fit, and it is noticeably warmer than the base layer.
L3 Insulation Layer – protection against wind and cold
The third layer is designed to be worn over the base layer and under the field uniform or other outer shell. Our L3 garments are available in two styles: unlined windwear and lofty thermal wear featuring Climashield insulation that provides warmth with minimal bulk. Lightweight, quick-drying, and highly breathable fabrics guarantee effective moisture management and great packability.
L4 Field Wear – the default layer for combat use
The fourth layer can be regarded as the standard combat uniform for harsh field conditions and all seasons. The L4 clothing offers protection against the outside world through camouflage and abrasion resistance. These garments are designed for minimal thermal load for effective layering. The camouflage prints and visible accessories are 100% NIR-compliant.
L5 Thermal Shell – Insulation for Arctic conditions
The fifth layer is designed for quick layering over your fieldwear or as a stand-alone cold-weather uniform.It retains body heat in the freezing northern winter weather, and it is easy to throw on top of fieldwear when temperatures drop. Generous ventilation zippers minimize the thermal load, providing added comfort. Camouflage prints and visible accessories are 100% NIR-compliant.
L6 Waterproof Shell – protection against rain, snow, and wind
The sixth layer can be layered over your fieldwear for rain protection, or you can wear it as a standalone waterproof uniform.Generous two-way ventilation zippers minimize the thermal load, which helps you regulate your temperature during high-tempo exercises or military missions. Camouflage prints and visible accessories are 100% NIR-compliant.
L7 Camouflage Layer – NIR-compliant concealment
The outermost layer provides added camouflage without excessive thermal load and fatigue. It offers visual, NIR, and even some degree of thermal camouflage. Camouflage prints and visible accessories are 100% NIR-compliant. This lightweight layer can be worn over other layers or gear.
