Measurements

The sizes include recommended user measurements: height and chest circumference. These are based on the body of an athletic male. The hem and thumbhole sleeves are very long, so it's suitable for much taller people than usual. If you are tall and don't use thumbholes, the Regular length is suitable even up to 190 cm / 6' 3" folks.

Depending on your body type, you might want to check out the garment measurement charts below and compare them to shirts you already own. The widths are measured laid flat e.g. the chest width is from armpit to armpit. The front and back lengths are measured from the bottom of the hood, the sleeve length is measured from the shoulder seam.

Technical details and instructions

Material

Made of certified mulesing-free Merino Wool.

Now, as the material is mostly Merino wool, it has a plethora of nice qualities: warm even when wet, doesn't really soak in water either, doesn't absorb nasty smells easily (i.e. you don't have to wash it that often) and doesn't feel itchy.

  • Weight and fiber thickness: 350 g/m2 / 10 oz, 19.5 micron
  • Interlock weave blend: 78% Merino Wool, 19% Viscose, and 3% Elastane
  • Reinforcements: 52% Polyamide, 48% Merino Wool, 245 g/m2

Care

Machine-washable: Wool Program max. 40°C / 104°F. Washing all the time is not necessary thanks to the antimicrobial properties of wool. Air after use and the days between washes will be increased.

Abrasion resistance

When it comes to abrasion resistance, this hoodie does quite well for a wool garment, but has its limitations. Especially in desk jobs, the forearms rest and move against the table edge, and the elbows are another common wear point. Mind these spots and don't lean on everything like a lazy sack to avoid repairing the garment for a very long time!

Description

One of Varusteleka's most successful products, the Merino Wool Hoodie is a multi-purpose garment without a comparison. You've seen Ian wearing this on his channel; now you can get yours with the Forgotten Weapons logo.

  • Superb cut, handy pockets
  • Merino wool: comfort, insulation, and breathability
  • Works as a top layer or under a shell jacket

The hoodie is cut and made like a sports garment for cool weather but looks smart enough to be worn anywhere. It's a technical shirt without looking like one.

Made in EU (Lithuania).

Cut and Details

Slim hourglass fit with a long hem, even longer in the back. High-quality zipper on the front with a flap on the backside to prevent it from making contact with the skin. The collar is high, so you really don't need a scarf or a neck tube, just zip up. The hood has drawcord tightening and works under a helmet during cold weather. Thumbholes on the sleeve cuffs – reinforced against wear and can be rolled up if not needed.

Pockets

The hoodie has sort of five pockets: Two handwarmer pockets (can also carry one wine bottle each) and a large pocket on the back that can be accessed from either side. We count this pocket as two. The pocket linings are made of slightly elastic polyester fabric.

On the left sleeve, you'll find a zippered smartphone pocket big enough for even the large models. The pocket has a 80 x 140 mm / 3.2" x 5.5" patch base and the Varusteleka logo embroidered black-on-black for subdued looks.
