Measurements

We have listed first the easy size, then the standard ladies' EU size. In the brackets, you'll find a recommended bust size. Lengthwise, these are designed for 160-170 cm tall people, i.e. standard European women's height size.

The cut is intended for casual use in spring and fall, i.e. not very much room for warm underlayers. If you want more allowance for thick clothes, pick one size up.

Also for men

Despite being designed primarily for female users, the jacket suits most male figures well too.

The sizes are smaller than men's usual ones. We recommend measuring your chest, adding 15-25 cm for looseness, and comparing it to the chart below. For example, a Medium-sized man will likely wear a Windproof Parka in Large or X-Large.

Technical details and instructions

Material and care

65/35 % polycotton. PU coated for windproofing. The whole package breathes still very well.

The Särmä Windproof fabric responds well to treatment with Särmä Fabric Wax or Woly Protector spray. A thorough impregnation with wax makes the garment waterproof. Apply as necessary!

To fully appreciate this you should know what a Windproof Smock is, but in a nutshell, it's a versatile, lightweight, and comfortable outdoor jacket that breathes well and still protects you from the occasional rain shower: the jacket you first think about when planning on going outside.

Based on a military classic

Copied almost directly from the British army article, the original Särmä Windproof Smock has a very loose cut for reasons. A lot of women found the jacket to be desirable in principle but the fit didn't work for them, so we took measures to help: the Windproof Parka is narrower at the shoulders, has smaller sleeves, and a roomy bottom. Those are the important changes, but a lot of smaller details have been reworked as well.
