We’ve had requests for a kits like these – so we listened! We have a few practical sets tailored to different military career aspirations and budgets. Here is the Dreams of Peace at Lapinjärvi option. Perfect as a gift too!

Military life isn’t it – you opted for civilian service and a 4 week "starter boot camp" at Lapinjärvi, a small rural town with roughly 1,000 local humanoid inhabitants. By the looks of it, surviving the social scene at the local pub might not be a given.

• Petzl e+LITE Emergency Headlamp
• Thermos Midnight 0.75 L, Army Green

Finnish conscription

Finnish conscription service lasts 165, 255, or 347 days, depending on training. Those trained for basic duties serve 165 days, while those in specialized roles or unarmed service serve 255 days. Officers, NCOs, and those in highly specialized roles serve 347 days. The non-military alternative, civilian service, currently lasts 347 days. So-called "total objectors" who refuse both military and civilian service get prison time.

Military service isn’t a punishment, and even the shortest term isn’t exactly a walk in the park. The Finnish Defence Forces train and build troops according to its needs, and everyone plays an important role, regardless of their tasks or service duration. That said – it’s also the kind of experience where humor often thrives!

Other Military Starter Pack Options

These packs are named and crafted to the specifications of Finnish conscript service, but there’s no reason the packs couldn’t work for other people too.
