This vest first saw the light of day during SADF’s last gasp in 1994, and we got our hands on it. A single rarity item from South Africa. Speed is key here, if you want this for your own.
A lot of things went down in South Africa in 1994: The first free and democratic elections took place, and the South African National Defence Force was established on the foundation of the SADF and some other, more paramilitary, organizations. This vest was made in the same year, just before South Africa’s military decided to switch to the Soldier 2000 camo pattern. Used and with historical value, surplus from this era is getting increasingly rare.
This robust body armor vest has pockets for ballistic plates on the front and back and pockets for soft armor panels on the inside. Neither protective panels or plates are included with the vest. It is a chest rig type and sits high on the chest, so the lower abdomen is left without cover.
The vest is a Medium and is meant for persons with a 90-100 centimeter chest circumference. Donning and adjusting the vest is done with the hook & loop patches.
There’s some surplus dust on the vest, and some parts have frayed a little. The name “Denini” is written on the inside of one of the magazine pouches. Used but in good and serviceable condition.
