A tunnel tent has a sleeping area and a spacious vestibule. You can store all your gear indoors, protected from rain, without having to sleep next to your smelly and wet clothes. You can also get dressed/undressed away from rain without dragging sand and mud into your bed. Furthermore, you can also eat indoors during a rainstorm. Cooking in the vestibule isn’t advisable unless you can ensure really good ventilation. Never cook in the sleeping quarters.
