You like it tilted? This is the best way to mount a red dot sight on your Reptilia AUS Mount at 45 degrees! This mount is compatible with Trijicon RMR, SRO, and other optics that use the same footprint – check the list for examples. This mounting piece also fits the Geissele Super Precision scope mount.
Simple and solid construction
Low profile and sight line close to scope
This is compatible with 30mm Reptilia AUS and Geissele Super Precision mounts, replacing the top cap of the forward scope ring. Available in two colors: black and FDE.
Why a Secondary Sight?
In tactical real-world situations as well as sport shooting and hunting, you may need to shoot accurately both at a distance and quickly at close range – for this purpose, a quick-use red dot sight is installed on the firearm in addition to a magnifying optic
A secondary sight allows you to keep a low-power variable optic (LPVO) pre-set to a higher magnification, speeding up transitions between close and distant targets
Another use is, for example, to zero subsonic .300BLK rounds for the red dot and supersonic rounds for the magnifying optic (or vice versa)
Snipers and designated marksmen often have a secondary sight alongside a larger optic, especially in semi-automatic rifles
A red dot sight or such will also enable you to aim with your scoped rifle while using NVGs
Features
Some prefer to keep the secondary sight on the side of the weapon, tilting the rifle to bring the sight picture into view – others prefer to mount the sight at twelve o'clock, aiming over the magnifying optic without tilting the rifle. This mount represents the former style.
The Reptilia ROF-45 replaces the forward top ring cap on your AUS/Geissele mount. It uses the existing screws of the optic mount's forward scope ring (T15 Torx). The ROF-45 is machined from a single piece of 7075-T6 aluminum and is finished with MIL-STD Type III Class 2 hard anodizing.

Recommended Torque Specs
What's torque, you ask? In firearm installations, it's advisable to follow the torque values provided by the manufacturers – that is, how tight the screws should be fastened. So, get a torque wrench with a range of about 0-70 in-lbs / 0-8 Nm! The scope ring screws are fastened to the same torque as without the ROF, 15 in-lbs / 1.7 Nm.
Note: Your red dot sight is attached to the ROF with screws provided with the mount, according to the torque specs of your sight – so check the specs from your sight's manual or the manufacturer. Typically, the torque is around 12 in-lbs / 1.4 Nm (Aimpoint Micro), so the force needed is quite minimal. If you overdo it, you might damage something and have a bad time.
Installation Instructions
Here's an installation video. Below are step-by-step written instructions.
Tools Required
T15 Torx tool
T10 Torx tool
The included T10 Torx screws
Recommended: a torque wrench for small torques (e.g., 0-70 lbs-in / 0-8 Nm)
Attaching ROF-45 to AUS Mount
You'll need a T15 Torx tool and a torque wrench for this step
Perform all steps somewhere other than above a drain, a full trash can, or similar (we have been there)
Remove the forward top ring cap of the AUS Mount and put it somewhere for safekeeping – keep the screws handy, as you'll need them shortly
Place the ROF-45 (without the sight) onto the forward scope ring
Lightly tighten the screws of the scope ring in an X-pattern (e.g., front left, rear right, rear left, front right)
Finally, tighten the screws to the specified torque in the same X-pattern (15 in-lbs / 1.7 Nm)
Installing Red Dot Sight on ROF-45 Mount
You'll need the included T10 Torx screws, a T10 Torx tool, and a torque wrench for this step
Mount the sight correctly onto the ROF-45 to the manufacturer's specified torque
