Moisture wicking underwear will give you the best performance and comfort when doing something active. Underwear acts as a barrier between your skin and the outer clothing layers. Regardless of weather, undergarments should be light, breathable, and moisture wicking. When it is hot, use boxer shorts and T-shirts or sleeveless shirts. Logically, when it gets cold, put on long sleeved thermal underwear. The most preferable materials for underclothing are synthetics and merino wool, or a blend of these two.
From Varusteleka you can select the right stuff for any purpose: Merino wool, synthetics, and even cotton. Sometimes the materials are a blend of these. Basically all good underwear can be used in any scenario. If you're not allergic to wool and have a buck to spare, we heartily recommend dressing up in merino wool; it regulates temperature, transfers moisture away from skin, doesn't even feel too bad when moist, and stays fresh for a long time compared to others thanks to the natural antibacterial properties, decreasing the need for washing. Just give it a proper airing, and you’re done. By default all thermal merino underwear we sell is made of mulesing free wool. We suggest giving viscose and merino wool underwear a chance!
Synthetic, or so called technical underwear is almost as good as merino wool, especially as moisture wicking underwear, but comes with a more wallet friendly price tag. It also tends to withstand use and abuse a bit better. You'll have to wash them more often though.
