The Finnish army boots socks are excellent but make them out of quality merino wool, and they get even better! Just like our army issue socks, but a little better in every way. The natural moisture-wicking properties of merino wool make these a viable option for around the year use.

Merino wool makes for a perfect base layer, to minimize chafing you can wear thinner socks under these, for example our standard merino socks. In cold weather conditions, you could wear a pair of thicker socks over these. Layering socks makes life better; it minimizes chafing. If you've chosen your materials correctly (can't go wrong with wool), double-layered socks will not feel uncomfortably hot or too damp even in hot weather.
The footbed side is terry cloth. This means the sock won't slide and wrinkle when worn.
L2 - Mid Layer
The second layer of the Varusteleka clothing system wicks moisture forward from the base layer and gives moderate thermal insulation. The L2 can also be used as a next-to-skin layer, which further adds to the flexibility of the system. Our mid-layer is made from a midweight merino wool blend; it is a bit more relaxed, fitting and noticeably warmer than the base layer.
