Here’s the cold weather alternative to Beyond A5 Rig Light Backcountry Pants. These pants have a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish, which makes them water-resistant. Note that these aren’t fully waterproof; for biblical rainstorms you need hardshell pants. They feature a 4-way stretch fabric and a lighter-weight  fabric stretch crotch gusset for mobility.

Very tough construction, smart pocket design, sturdy belt loops, an internal waist adjustment make these fantastic cold weather pants for all outdoorsy people.

Axios Layering System

These pants are part of Beyond’s earlier Axios layering system, where A5 is the Axios Layer 5, Softshell. Later, Beyond switched to the L-system, and this garment falls into the L5 slot. The current version is known as the L5 Back Country Pant, in case you wanna do some price comparison.

Condition

Unused American military surplus still in plastic wrapping. On the shelf, these cost several times more. They were made for the US military, which has no shortage of money. In other words, a very good deal.
