A waterproof hardshell jacket makes life easier in unstable weather. It is a very versatile garment suited for round-the-year use in places where you can get wet. In warm weather, just put a T-shirt underneath. And add warmer mid-layers when the weather gets colder. The whole thing packs inside the hood when the rain dies down and the sun comes out.
Water- and windproof but breathable
This jacket is made from a durable 3-layer bonded fabric that hides a waterproof membrane inside. Moreover, it has a dirt- and water-repellent treatment and taped seams. A modern hardshell jacket breathes a lot better than traditional rubber rainwear. Furthermore, the breathability is a lot better than in the earlier Chinese version. And you can improve ventilation with the under-arm zippers and hook & loop cuffs. It is, of course, worth noting that garments with a waterproof membrane always breathe less than clothes made from natural materials that let both water and wind through. You have to sacrifice something when you want to protect yourself from water.
Four pockets
The jacket has two spacious front pockets. They have been redesigned to make the jacket work better with the hip belts of packs. Additionally, both sleeves have now pockets, unlike the previous version that only featured one sleeve pocket.
