Features

This slightly warmer shirt is based on our L4 Combat Shirt, with all the details refined purely for winter warfare. Note that this is not some super-thick wool sweater but a lightly insulated combat garment – layering and proper winter over-garments are still important. However, the combat shirt’s features reduce heat stress under protective vests and load-bearing gear, improving endurance.

• Stretch side pockets for electronics or such, with buttonhole openings inside for cable routing
• Protective turtleneck collar with zipper and drawcord

A combat shirt is a cross between a base layer shirt and a field jacket. It’s not meant to look pretty at a parade but to function as a smart jacket replacement under combat gear. The most important feature is the shirt-like torso: against your core, there’s just one layer of comfortable, breathable knit fabric.

The sleeves are the opposite of the minimalist torso – they’re like those of a proper field jacket, pockets and all. The elbows are reinforced with shaped patches of Foxa Viking fabric, sewn to allow protective inserts, such as CPE elbow pad inserts.

L4 – Field Wear

The fourth layer of the Varusteleka Clothing System can generally be described as the “standard field uniform”. The purpose of this layer is to protect the user from observation and to shield lower layers from wear. L4 clothes and accessories are lightweight, durable field garments designed for functionality. Camouflage-printed fabrics and visible accessories are fully NIR-compliant.
